In Kaqchikel, we
covered past and future tenses. It's not
too difficult, really. Essentially, you
just add a prefix to what would be the infinitive of the verb. It's just a matter of actually memorizing all
the verbs. We'll see how it goes.
Yesterday our
English lesson went very well with the kiddos at the pre-k. We had worksheets with the numbers 1-5 and we
were going to instruct them to color each one in a different color, all in
English. I was nervous that they would
get ahead of each other and start coloring in the sheet as they wanted, but
they didn't! Plus they understood our
instructions in English. At the pre-k, I
was also asked to translate some picture books from English to Spanish. It wasn't too difficult until I got to
phrases like, "Then the wind blew and the squiggly wiggly worm blew
away!" How do you translate
"squiggly wiggly"?? I
certainly didn't know, but I did as best I could.

Our afternoon was
free, so I took advantage of the time to do some homework. I've been having more problems with
technology though. In addition to my
camera deciding it belongs in a hospice, my computer charger has decided to not
recognize when it's inside the computer.
It started back in March, but I would just wiggle the charger until it
worked. Yesterday it died completely, so
that's no good. Fortunately, one of my
roommates has been kind enough to lend me hers.
In the meantime, I will gladly accept suggestions and/or donations for a
new camera. I should be able to take
care of the charger when I get back.
There may not be
many photos for Monday, but this weekend should be awesome! Stay tuned!

Pues
parecía que mi pequeño Casio estuvo recuperándose poco a poco, pero ahora la
lente ni sale, entonces voy a tener que reciclar fotos o robarlos de mis amigos
para el resto del viaje. Algunos fotos
quizás no van a ir de acuerdo con lo que escribo, entonces me tienen que
perdonar, pero en el momento no tengo dinero para comprar otra cámara en el
futuro inmediato y no quiero arriesgar perder mi teléfono.
En
Kaqchikel, ya hablamos sobre los verbos en tiempo del pasado y el futuro. No es tan difícil, en verdad. Solamente se agrega un prefijo al infinitivo
del verbo. Solo es cosa de memorizar los
verbos. Veremos como va.
Ayer
nuestra clase de inglés fue un éxito con los niños de la guardería. Tuvimos hojas de trabajo con los números del 1-5
e íbamos a decirles en que colores pintarlos, todo en inglés. Estuve nerviosa que nos iban a ignorar y
pintar en los colores que les antojaban, pero no lo hicieron! También entendieron las instrucciones en
inglés. También en la guardería, me
pidieron traducir unos libros de inglés a español. No era muy difícil hasta que llegaba a frases
como "Y el viento sopló y el gusanito squiggly wiggly se fue!" Como traduce uno "squiggly
wiggly?" Ni idea, pero hice lo
mejor que pude.

La tarde
era libre, entonces tomé el tiempo para hacer unas tareas. He tenido más problemas con la
tecnología. Primero mi cámara decidió
que pertenecía en un albergue, la cargadora de mi computadora decidió que
quería ignorar cuando lo conecto.
Comenzó por marzo, pero solo era cosa de mover la cargadora hasta que
sirviera, pero ayer murió por completo y no sirve para nada. Afortunadamente, unas de mis compañeras ha
sido un ángel y me ha prestado el suyo.
Por ahora, con mucho gusto acepto sugerencias y/o donaciones por una
cámara nueva. Creo que la cargadora lo
puedo conseguir cuando regrese a casa.
Quizás no
tendré fotos para el lunes, pero este fin de semana debe ser genial, entonces
hasta entonces!
