It's officially on! After months, and months, and months and scouring countless websites and placing several calls to airlines, I've FINALLY bought my ticket! It's amazing how many resources there are available to find flights, but at the same time, it can be quite frustrating to determine which ones are legit and which ones advertise low fares only to charge you additional fees weeks after you've bought the ticket. I almost bought a flight through a website I found through a travel engine, but a quick google search said not to buy there. Noted.
It's been a long and confusing trial buying tickets. I had read that tickets to Africa are best purchased between 3-5 weeks before departure, so I had waited and waited and waited. Yesterday, I saw fares in September as low as $1300, but today they jumped to $1600. Those fares were still heartbreaking, as they were still lower than what I would be paying. Oh well. I've bought the ticket and I will look no more, lest I risk seeing fares drop and having the inevitable, "why couldn't I wait just one more day!" moment. Alas, it's a double edged blade. Tomorrow fares could jump $500 and I would be worse off. The fare fell within my budget, and I'll just tweak my August expenses to cover travel in more creative ways. And I won't eat for two months.
In any case, it's official. Months of waiting are over and I'm going to South Africa! It's time for some final preparations, WHO vaccinations and figuring out what to pack.
Ya es oficial! Después de meses y meses y meses de búsqueda y viendo sitios en línea innumerables, y hasta llamando a los aerolíneas, ya FINALMENTE tengo mi boleto! Es increíble ver cuantos recursos hay para encontrar vuelos, pero al mismo tiempo, puede ser súper frustrante determinar cuales son reales y cuales tienen precios bajos porque te cobran más después de comprar. Por poco compré en un sitio que encontré, pero después de ver en google, sale que no se debe comprar por ese sitio.
Ha sido un proceso largo y confuso para comprar boletos. Había leído que para comprar boletos a África, se debe esperar hasta 3-5 semanas antes de salir, entonces esperé y esperé y esperé.
